You know that you want a dog that heels with animation, but you’re feeling frustrated and not sure what to do next.

  • Are you sick of losing unnecessary points on heeling?

  • Have you been struggling with precision heeling?

There are 3 huge mistakes I see when people try to teach heeling...

  • They don’t interact with their dog.

  • They use food as a crutch.

  • They settle for less than what their dog is capable of.

Can you imagine how it would feel to come out of the obedience ring and say, “Our heeling was fantastic! I’m so happy with how my dog worked!”

Imagine looking down at your scoresheet and seeing zero points deducted for heeling!

Imagine being able to walk into the ring without worrying that your dog won’t heel as nicely in the ring as they do in training.

Well - it’s possible!

What makes Heel We Go! The Art of Joyful Heeling different?

Heel We Go! The Art of Joyful Heeling is the first course of its kind that not only teaches you about heeling but also how to develop your relationship with your dog, which will aid you when the food is no longer present.

Heel We Go! The Art of Joyful Heeling also breaks down heeling into smaller behaviours for you and the dog to perfect and then build on until you are ready to step into the obedience ring.

This course will benefit both the beginner and the seasoned trainer - anyone looking for new ideas to take your relationship and performance to the next level.

In this course you'll:

  • Learn how to teach the 4 main elements of heeling so that your dog will be more engaged with you.

  • Improve your precision work and enjoyment of heeling.

  • Heel with joy and precision for twice as long as is required in the obedience competition ring.

  • Practice interacting and playing with your dog so that you can develop a relationship to be admired.

Here’s what you’re going to get:

  • Chapter 1: Foundation Skills - to create good habits in your dog.

  • Chapter 2: Handling - because what you do is just as important as what the dog does.

  • Chapter 3: Games - you want to have FUN with your dog.

  • Chapter 4: Duration - focus on sustained attention and position, essential for success.

  • Chapter 5: Set ups and Turns - you need a dog that is happy to start the exercise - a dog that maintains position during turns excels at heeling.

  • Chapter 6: Halts - teach your dog to be straight and animated when sitting.

  • Chapter 7: Changes of Pace - teach your dog to maintain position regardless of the speed you are going.

  • Chapter 8: Figure Eight - the most technical exercise in heeling obedience can be your dog’s favourite.

  • Chapter 9: Putting it All Together - combine all of the elements and begin to see your perfect mental picture come to life.

I am impressed with the wealth of knowledge

Wayne Lefurgey

I cannot speak more highly of Marie Sawford. Nyla (Golden Retriever) and I have been training with Marie for a couple of years. I am impressed with the wealth of knowledge in working through any issues we have had in improving our skills together. The positive reinforcement and critique make for a friendly environment to improve our skills and inspire us to higher levels of training. I have found that the more Nyla and I trained together the better the bond we have. I have already gone beyond what I expected and look forward to continuing our training with Marie in the future. It is fun, enjoyable and we always look forward to our next lesson.

High scores in competition!

Mary Barret

What I like best about Marie’s coaching is her ability to break down all the individual steps that it takes to put together a high performing obedience dog and handler team. She helps you to focus on these tiny little things and when you put them all together, you end up with high scores in competition, lots of fun in training and an excellent relationship with your dog.

FAQ

You have questions. I have answers

  • Do I really need to spend money on something like this?

Assuming that you already have a dog and that you want to compete in obedience, your money will be well spent. This course will improve your dog’s heeling skills and enjoyment for this skill. If you are not satisfied that your money has been well spent, there is a money back guarantee.

  • I’m afraid of signing up for this and then not having the time or energy required to get the results.

The course is broken down into small parts. You will not need to dedicate hours each day, but only 20 or 25 mins of training the dog and you will see results even if you only train 3 or 4 times per week. Much of the precision work can and should be done in brief training sessions. The videos can be watched at your leisure, some of them are long (20-40 mins in length) but it is easy to pause the video and come back to it when you are ready. In the supporting documents you will not only find a lot of detail but also a table of contents so that you can quickly get to where you left off or choose the topic you want to work on.

  • I’m not sure I’m a good fit for this course.

One of the great things about this course is that it was designed for the beginner and also the more experienced trainer that might be looking for some new ideas or a different way to teach animated heeling. If you want to improve your dog’s duration skill , go directly to the duration chapter, if you want to teach more accurate turns, go directly to the turns chapter. The course is yours to pull whatever information you require out of it. Of course, you can watch the entire course from Chapter 1 (Foundation) to Chapter 9 (Putting it all together) sequentially if you are just getting started.
